Can you believe it’s a new year? A new decade?!?
I like to take this time of year and refocus and dream a bit. 2020 has so many great things in store for Peripeti that my dreams can outweigh the focus. Does that ever happen to you?
Whenever I feel that way, I come back to the beginning, the ‘why’ for Peripeti.
Why Peripeti? Why home fragrance?
I chose the name Peripeti because it means “a turning point or point of significant change” and with home fragrance, it’s a small thing that has a significant impact.
Recently, I came across an article about Andy Warhol and his scent collection that completely resonated with why I love fragrance.
Apparently, Andy Warhol would wear the same scent for 3 months and then never wear it again, putting it into his personal fragrance archives. When he revisited the scent he could remember the events of those three months.
Here’s what he had to say about his obsession with scent: “Of the five senses, smell has the closest thing to the full power of the past. Smell really is transporting. Seeing, hearing, touching, tasting are just not as powerful as smelling if you want your whole being to go back for a second to something. …”
Such an amazing and powerful way to capture memories! And that’s why I’ve always been drawn to home fragrance. By intentionally involving your sense of smell, not only can you elevate your present, but you also enable yourself to more vividly remember your past.
It’s all about the ingredients.
However, when I was thinking about starting a home fragrance business, I started noticing that fragrances off the shelf were full of toxins and unknown materials. And that’s when the lightbulb really turned on for me, and I knew I had to make Peripeti happen. All-natural, organic ingredients, clean-burning materials, and essential oils wherever I could.
If I was going to help people tap into the power of scent, it needed to be guilt-free.
The power of scent is also why I’ve chosen to hand mix one of a kind, dimensional fragrances. By creating completely unique scents, designed with depth and lasting moments in mind, there’s nothing else that can take its place, and your moments will forever be wrapped up in that scent. It’s an incredible way to elevate your everyday life.
So that’s my focus. Intentional scents, guilt-free ingredients, memories for a lifetime.
